on my way
I've started a new project, something I haven't done in 30 (?) years. I'm making a bag out of jeans. I had found an old pair of jean shorts, size 7/8 (no, not my size, not near my size). have taken out inside seam, resewn it, found a wonderful dragon batik panel in my stash for the flap, found another piece of fabric in my stash that I've cut apart, now appliquing circles on the bag. Yep, elementary, but good for rediscovering old skills, and I feel good about it. And the fabric has lots of purple, yum.

Much better
Have cleaned off my desk top. Yes, my sewing desk that has been a place to put things that don't belong anywhere else in the house for about 5 years. My husband got the sewing machine down from a high shelf in the garage, I cleaned it up, took moving parts off, delinted everywhere, oiled it, replaced the rusty needle, then tested it out. Voila! It not only still works, but I didn't even have to play with the tension! Things are looking up by the moment!
first step
Let's see how this goes. I've been told I tend to ramble on and on and on on my FB statuses, so maybe this is a more appropriate space to ramble. I used to sew and quilt and create, but haven't. I could give you a list of why, but it would be a list of excuses. I think I lost a part of myself somewhere along the way.
(erased a whole paragraph that was oh woe is me)
I still have my unfinished quilt from about 10 years ago, all pieced, half quilted. Will bring it out today to get back on it, to get back into the groove. Have signed up for classes at the upcoming quilt festival (Nov 3-6), and hope that jumpstarts me. I think I may be using this blog as a way to be accountable, to who I'm not sure yet (me?). If I post my intentions, maybe I'll take them seriously.
Have I rambled enough?
